Coinciding with the theatrical release of the hugely anticipated movie “The Martian” starring Matt Damon, NASA Kennedy Space Center aimed to highlight their plant growth projects currently taking place on the International Space Station (ISS) with a “Martian” themed exhibit. In addition to displaying one of the plant growth chambers, NASA wanted a high definition display with creative content of on-orbit plant growth footage intermixed with Martian trailer footage.
After obtaining permission to utilize the trailer footage, RDG produced the HD content, and designed a small form factor HD player and display system to be added to the exhibit. RDG produced the complete turnkey hardware and content in just under three weeks meeting a tight delivery deadline in advance of the movie release. The result is seen in the included exhibit picture as displayed at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. And yes, that is NASA Administrator Charlie Bolden checking it out!
